Intro to Clay (6 week class) 6/17 - 7/22

$360.00

Wednesday evenings 6pm - 9pm

June 17th - July 22nd

Instructor: Malaika Tolford

This 6-week class is designed both for beginners curious about working with clay and for those looking to strengthen and expand an existing practice. Through a combination of guided projects and open exploration, students will build foundational skills in handbuilding, glazing, surface design, and an introduction to the pottery wheel.

The first half of the course will focus on demonstrations and skill building through directed projects, and the later weeks will allow students to develop more self-directed work based on their own interests, with individualized support and guidance.

Students will have a shared shelf for works in progress and access to a supportive, community-oriented studio environment that encourages experimentation, curiosity, and craftsmanship.

Malaika has taught ceramics in a wide range of settings, from children’s camps and community studios to university classrooms, with an approach that balances technical skill-building, creative exploration, and thoughtful design in both functional and sculptural work.

Price includes all materials, glaze, and firing costs. Tools provided.

Students will have access to 15 open studio hours a week.

Classes are nonrefundable. Please review our cancellation policies on our FAQ page.
