Surface Design for Ceramics: Techniques for pattern & imagery - Saturday, 6/6

$95.00

Saturday, June 6, 1pm - 4pm

Instructor: Malaika Tolford

Ready to take your surfaces beyond basic glaze?

In this hands-on workshop, we’ll move quickly through a range of surface design techniques that open up new ways of working with pattern, imagery, and texture on clay. You’ll learn how to approach decoration not as an afterthought, but as an integral part of your making process.

We’ll cover a mix of methods including slip transfers, sgraffito, mishima, stenciling, and resist techniques, along with an introduction to digital stencil design.

This class is about exploration and layering. You’ll experiment with multiple approaches and learn how to combine them to create rich, dynamic surfaces that feel intentional and personal.

Whether you’re drawn to bold graphic pattern, detailed illustration, or subtle texture, you’ll leave with a toolkit of techniques you can bring into your own practice right away.

Open to all levels. Some clay experience is helpful, but not required.

Workshops are nonrefundable. Please review our cancellation policies on our FAQ page.
